Sheeple · 2025Why Sheeple exists
In Chip’s words. Ten portraits, drawn by hand and inscribed whole on Bitcoin.
This all started with loss. Our hay crop failed that year and we had to sell our sheep.
In the emptiness afterward, I started drawing them. Not for galleries or collectors, but for my kids. I wanted to make them smile, to give them something gentle, curious and fun. To remind them that joy can still live in small, simple things.
The more I drew, the more I thought about what sheep actually represent. People use “sheep” as an insult. But real sheep aren’t stupid. They’re sensitive, social animals that follow each other because the world is noisy and unpredictable, and there’s safety in the flock. Humans are no different.
People follow trends, chase noise and go where others already are. Ordinals didn’t create that. It revealed it. Sheeple is not here to shame anyone. It’s a quiet mirror, asking gently and deliberately: what are you following, and why?
Every piece is drawn by hand and inscribed onto a full 4MB block. What I wanted to say didn’t belong in a tiny, compressed file. It needed room to breathe.
If you look at these drawings and feel a little seen, good. That means it’s doing what it’s supposed to do.
